This was a personal project I worked on for portfolio development during my final semester at FIEA, in their Ventures program. I wanted to show off all the things that I've learned as an environment artist by completely modeling and texturing several miniature environments, complete with a suite of unique custom models. The intent was to demonstrate a wide array of skills - not just modeling and texturing, but also things like making cards for models, creating tiling materials, creating high-resolution sculpts for baking, and so on. These environments were completed over the course of four weeks from the initial modeling to final lighting and display.
I wanted these environments to have a cohesive theme to them, to demonstrate my ability to remain on-style across long projects. To this end, I decided to recreate environments from the beloved cartoon "Spongebob Squarepants," with each project recreating a specific room in the titular character's house. This was the second of those three projects, and the room I recreated was the bedroom. Besides demonstrating style, I also wanted to demonstrate my ability to create game-ready assets, so I the methodology I used while making these assets was the same one that I'd use if I were working on a game. This means efficiency and optimization, so that they environment doesn't just look nice, but also doesn't weigh heavily on the system. In the bedroom, most of the assets have below 3000 triangles, and the most complex objects don't have more than 8000.
